Mouding County Climate

Mouding county (牟定县) is located in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province, China.It is situated in the north-central part of Yunnan province.The county is 57.6 kilometers from north to south, and 53.6 kilometers from west to east at most. Within the territory of Mouding County,the highest elevation is 2879 meters, and the lowest elevation is 1140 meters,while the average elevation is 1758 meters in the county town of Gonghe.

Mouding county’s total land area is 1464 square kilometers. Mouding County has beautiful landscape, honest folk and abundant water and grass. The terrain of the northwest is high, southeast low. Mountain areas account for 90 percent of Mouding County's total territory. Mouding Embankment is the biggest embankment within this county, which has 80 square kilometers. It belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, which has abundant sunshine and mild climate. The rainfall averages about 872 mm annually, and annual average temperature is 15.8℃.（1959s-2000s）

The climate here is mild, and generally warm and temperate. In winter, there is much more rainfall in Wuding than in summer. This climate is considered to be Csa according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification. The average annual temperature in Wuding is 17.1 °C. Precipitation here averages 863 mm.
