  1. Wufeng Mountain Forest Park in Luliang County,Qujing

Wufeng Mountain Forest Park is situated in Majie Township, about 20 kilometers from Luliang county seat, Qujing Municipality. It covers an area of 25 square kilometers and is one of the popular tourist destinations in the east of Yunnan Province. Wufeng is actually a branch of Longhai Mountain Ranges, and has five major peaks side by side hence is vividly called Wufeng (Five Peaks) Mountain. In 1983, it was approved as a national forest park of China.       Wufeng Mountain is known for Wufeng Temple which is also named Puzhao Temple because of its horizontal plaque inscribed with “Fu Guang Pu Zhao” (the light of great bliss shines on the mundane world). The temple is said to be originally constructed in the Yuan Dynasty, rebuilt and enlarged in the later Ming Dynasty. In the 7th year of Yongzheng Reign in the Qing Dynasty, Wu En’zheng, governor of Luliang at that time, conducted pilgrimage to Wufeng Temple and appointed Cheng Ming as the new abbot [Cheng Ming used to be a Buddhist master in Jianhai Temple (nowadays Baoma Temple in Shangzhuang)]. Great efforts were further made then to renovate Wufeng Temple by Cheng Ming who also renamed it Xingfo Buddhist Temple.

In the late Qing and early Republic of China, Yin Cheng, a scholar from Liangdi Village of Majie, established a private school in Wufeng Temple, and sponsored to make sculptures of lion, deer, elephant and horse at the entrance to the temple. It’s said that these animal sculptures are masterpieces of Yunnan’s renowned mason Luan Chaohe. In the next few decades, the temple was pitifully damaged and the recent restoration in 1983 brought it a brand-new look. Looking up from a proper direction at the foot of the Wufeng Mountain, one will be astonished by the temple’s “perching” on a lotus-flower-like mountain, proving again the Chinese saying: “most of the famous mountains are usually inhabited by temples”. Wufeng Mountain brims over with superb tourist resources. Dense pine trees, entangling vines, brooks and springs of lipid water, and various fauna and flora species etc, all of which delight visitors well. Besides, Wufeng Lake there adds much to the vitality of the forest park.
