Luchong Resort nearby Fuxian Lake in Chengjiang

Located in southwest of Chengjiang beside the west bank of the famous Fuxian Lake, Luchong resort is 20 kilometers away from downtown of Chengjiang and 70 kilometers away from Kunming, with only 1.5 hours of riding from Kunming bus station. The resort covers an area of 9.5 square kilometers with 3.2 kilometers coastline. It consists of old fishing village, new Luchong village, Bijia Mountain, and Boxi bay. The resort is surrounded by mountains and Fuxian lake, with Qilin Mountain on its south, Mopan Mountain on its west, Jian Mountain on its north, and Fuxian Lake on its east. The whole area is picturesque, which has nurtured many outstanding personalities in history. Bijia Mountain beside the resort is named after the brush holder of literati and the name of the bay Boxi means peaceful water without winds and waves. It was once a natural wonder here to catch anti-wave fish by piping water with wheel in summer and autumn. 
 
Luchong before was a rural village of Chengjiang. In early 1980s, a TV serial was shot here, which made Luchong to be known by outside world. Since mid-1980s, about 400 million yuan for tourism development has been invested in this area to build and improve tourist facilities. At the moment, there are altogether 21 restaurants of various standards, 68 guesthouses and inns, and 3 starred hotels, with 1,226 rooms and 3,180 beds in total and 456 persons in tourism business. In 2006, the resort received 671,300 visitors with 28.14 million yuan income. There are 2 ecological parking lots and 2 4-starred public washrooms. There are 27 mu turfs and 8,840 square meters sand beach. Sports facilities are provided here for swimming, tennis, football and volleyball. The resort is one of the best areas with ideal location and beautiful environment for travel, holiday, recreation, and conference. Efforts have been made to build the resort into an AAAA park of national standard.
