Yunnan, a tourism paradise in the southwestern China and even the world, is frequently visited and admired by millions of tourists from both home and abroad. The strongly growing tourism industry has seen the mushrooming of a considerable number of hotels ranging from deluxe ones, and inns to family-run guesthouses, most of which appeal to many overseas visitors. You can find with ease accommodation in Hot destinations including Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-la, Xishuangbanna, and Honghe etc.
As Yunnan is sparing no efforts to fully exploit its tourism resources as part of the “12th Five-year Plan (2011-2015)” in order to build a strong tourism economy, many destinations are being and will be disclosed to visitors. Be aware that Yunnan covers an area of nearly 400,000 square kilometers. To make your stay and trip comfortable, we suggest you resort to travel services to book hotels! In many places, you have to understand it’s rare or barely routine for hotel staff to speak a foreign language.
So what else you may need is a foreign-language-speaking tour guide when you are bound to Honghe, Wenshan, Qujing, Baoshan, Zhaotong and other unfrequented destinations that might well be different from other crowded and noisy tourist sites. In many counties and small towns, however, there are many small-sized but pleasant hotels/inns although they are not on the star-rating list. For example, Mohan on the border with Laos in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture is a small town with good hotels or inns. Room fees may be “a drop in the ocean” compared to those of some deluxe hotels.
Normally, breakfasts included in hotels in those areas whose economies have been non-tourism-driven are in Chinese style. So what you also need to do is get ready for this situation if you can not get used to Chinese breakfast: rice noodles, steamed buns, and fried rice etc. What we suggest finally is to make a deal with a reliable travel service, and your tour will be much more satisfying.
There has been great progress in the development of hotel accommodation in Yunnan over the past years. By the end of April 1999, the eve of the ’99 Kunming International Horticultural Exposition, the whole province had boasted 250 star hotels of which one, Guanfang Hotel (Lijiang), was a five—star hotel, 5 (Kunming Hotel, Sakura Holiday Inn, King World Hotel, Golden Dragon Hotel and Green Lake Hotel) were four—star hotels, 35, including Camellia Hotel, Kingsun Hotel, Jinli Hotel, Baoshan Hotel, Honghe Hotel, Crown Hotel (Jinghong), and Fuhao Hotel (Ruili), were three—star hotels.
Meanwhile, there were more than 70 candidate star hotels of which 3 (The Westin Kunming, Harbour Plaza Kunmin, and Bank Hotel) were five—star hotels, 14, including Countyard ByMarriott Hotel, Horizon—Jianguo Hotel, Greenland Hotel, and Palace Hotel, were four—star hotels, 26, including Expo Garden Hotel and Lianyun Hotel, were three—star hotels and 31, two—star hotels.
