Because of the complicated topography and high altitude, transportation of Deqin is not that convenient. Travel transportation to Deqin is mainly depends on Zhongdian, the capital of the prefecture.

Deqin is 183 kilometers away from Zhongdian, and there are four buses from Zhongdian to Deqin every day. The whole journey will take about 5 hours because of the complicated road conditions. But through the bus journey, you could enjoy the beautiful sceneries along the road.

If you want to get to Deqin by air, you should take airplane to Zhongdian Airport from Kunming, Chengdu and Tibet. There are airlines from Kunming to Zhongdian every day, but airlines from Zhongdian to Chengdu only have two flights every week, and one flight between Lhasa and Zhongdian. After Zhongdian airport, take bus to Deqin.

Kunming – Zhongdian – Deqin

If by bus from Kunming to Deqin, tourists should take bus to Zhongdian at first from Kunming, which will take about 12 hours. And then take bus from Zhongdian to Deqin.

Lijiang – Zhongdian – Deqin

As Zhongdian is only about 200 kilometers away from Lijiang, it is much convenient by bus from Lijiang to Zhongdian, and then transfer bus at Zhongdian to Deqin.

Dali – Zhongdian – Deqin

There are 300 kilometers between Lijiang and Zhongdian. Take bus from Lijiang to Zhongdian, then transfer to Deqin.

Daoceng – Zhongdian – Deqin

There are about 300 kilometers from Daocheng to Zhongdian and it will take about 12 hours from Daocheng to Zhongdian. After that, take bus from Zhongdian to Deqin.
