Lijiang Ancient Town International Golf Club in Kunming is just 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the Lijiang Old town near Kunming and is one of the lesser known courses in the area. Founded in November 2005, it was designed by American designer, Joe Obringer. Winding along Wenbihai Lake and with Yulong Snow Mountain in the background, Lijiang Ancient Town International Golf Club has very beautiful natural sceneries surrounded for you to enjoy. Lijiang Ancient Town International Golf Club has 18 holes (surprise surprise) and stretches to 7661 yards long making it a bit of a beast despite the elevation. The First 9 holes at this Kunming golf course present a mountainous style of golf while the last 9 holes create wonderful lake view and watery hazards. It makes for a great combination of functional design and scenic charms and it’s just a pleasure to play. Playing golf here, you will feel entertained, challenged, and relaxed at the same time.
Meandering along the shore of Wenbihai at the foot of Wenbi Peak at Lijiang, Lijiang Ancient Town International Golf Club goes up and down under the silhouette of Yulong Snow Mountain with great momentum. The PGA standard golf course is of international level, with a total length of 7,661 yards. The 10 holes are distributed along the Wenbihai. As it is high above the sea level, the course links though not too long provide the golfers with various choices of routes for the attack. This is not a golf course emphasizing force but thoughts. The course links have a mixture of bunkers, water hazards, depressions, natural canyons, and primecal hill rocks. Players must decide on the attack strategy for each hole based on their own golfing skills and experience.
