Located in the far northeast of Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Area lies isolated from other cities in the province. However the construction of the Jiuhuang Airport in Chuanzhusi Town and a new road link between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou has meant that the journey to Jiuzhaigou has become a great deal easier for today's traveler.

By Air

(Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong) Airport is 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) away to the north of Chuanzhusi Town, which is located in Songbo County of the Aba Autonomous Prefecture. With an altitude of 3400 meters (11,155 feet), the airport is just 88 kilometers (55 miles) to Jiuzhaigou Valley and 43 kilometers (27 miles) to the Huanglong Scenic and Historic Area.

Brief intro: Opened in 2003 Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong Airport is the first airport in Aba Zhou, bringing great convenience to travelers and a chance for economic development for the local tourist industry. Travelers from Chengdu, Kunming and Chongqing can reach Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong directly.

By Long-distance Bus

Although it takes a great deal longer to get to Jiuzhaigou by bus, it remains the most popular means of transport among visitors due to the reasonable price of tickets. Today you can take long-distance buses going directly to Jiuzhaigou from both Chengdu and Mianyang cities. A recently opened ring line operates between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Area, covering a distance of about 913 kilometers (567 miles). It is an important tourist route in Sichuan Province. Consisting of the East Line and the West Line, these wide and smooth expressways have reduced the journey time to Jiuzhaigou Valley to just 9 to 10 hours. Local government management ensures that the highway can be used all year round, and even in the event of a landslide (a common occurrence during the summer rainy season), a normal service is usually resumed within just a few hours.
