Jinglong Bridge, also named "Zili Bridge", is built on the section of Jinshan River (Yangtze River) between Yongsheng County and Gucheng District of Lijiang Municipality. It is 150 km from Yongsheng county seat in the east and 80 km from Lijiang Old Town in the west. The bridge is totally 116 meters long, 3 meters wide, and is fixed to cliffs on the riverbanks by 16 iron ropes. The construction of the bridge was sponsored by Mr. Jiang Zonghan (1839-1903, Yi ethnic member born in Heqing County, Dali Prefecture), the prefect of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces in the Qing Dynasty, and took 5 years to complete. As the most ancient surviving bridge on Jinsha River, Jinlong Bridge was an important pass on the Ancient Tea & Horse Trail (Road) exhibiting great historic significance. In 2006, it was listed as one of the protected historical and cultural sites of China.
