The town of Anning is 34km (21 miles) outside Kunming and the hot water spring is located about 8km (5 miles) outside the town. It is one of Kunming's famous scenic spots and health resorts, which enjoys the reputation of being 'the Best Hot Spring under the Sun'.
Anning Hot Spring is noted for its outstanding characteristics. With an average temperature of 42C and its dark green color, the water is free from the odor of sulphur and contains manifold trace elements, effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis vertebral diseases, sequelae of trauma, gastric ulcer, chronic gastritis, chronic colon inflammation, insomnia, early stage high blood pressure, dermatitis and gynaecological diseases. How to get there:
Regular buses run between the Outskirts Passenger Station, West Renmin Road in Kunming and Anning Hot Spring. The price is 3 yuan.
Tips:
It is very convenient to stay in Anning Tourist and Holiday Resort since there are hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities of various classes. Scenic areas near Anning Hot Spring: Huanyun cliff carving and Caoxi Temple (both located northwest of the county town of Anning). Tourist buses run from Anning Hot Spring to those scenic areas and bargaining is necessary when getting on the buses. Tourists can also take the carriages running between the scenic areas and enjoy the scenery along the road. Talk about the price with the driver before taking the carriage.
