"Kaquewa", the celebration of the New Year which usually lasts three days, is their unique festival;and there is no fixed schedule for "Kaquewa", so each family or clan can choose the date at will; during the festival, there is a special ox-slaughtering ceremony to make sacrifice to Heaven, the Supreme Force in the world worshiped by the Dulongs. Dulongs will guard the sacrificial holy-land while singing and dancing throughout the night, which symbolizes “ring out the Old Year and ring in the New Year”.
