There are two routes from Chengdu to Yading scenic spots in Daocheng County.Most part of the road is running in the mountainous area averagly about 3,000-4000 meters high. 

A: Chengdu-Dujiangyan-Wolong-Mt.Balang pass-Mt.Siguniang-Xiaojin county-Danba-Bamei town-Xinduqiao-Yajiang county-Litang county-Daocheng county-Yading.

The distacne of this route is around 900km from Chengdu to Daocheng Yading and it takes about 3 days. The road from Chengdu to Dujiangyan is expressway in very good condition, the part from Dujiangyan to Wolong panda nature reserve is still bolcked at the moment and in reconstruction after the earthquake in 2008(We will update the information once this part of the raod is open). From Wolong to Bamei, it is the cement mountain road with good condition. Bamei to Xinduqiao part of this route is very bad, it is bumping driving on this section of this route(There is a traffic control policy on the road, vehicls are allowed to pass through from 5Am to 9Am in 2010). Then from Xinduqiao to Yajiang Litang and Daocheng Yaing, the road condion is not very good either, there are small pits on the road but no problem to go through even for big buses.

B: Chengdu-Ya'an-Tianquan county-Mt.er'lang-Kangding city-Xinduqiao town-Yajiang-Litang county-Daocheng county-Yading nature reserve. The distance of this route is about 800km, and it is called the National road 318 Sichuan section. From Chengdu to Ya'an, it is very nice express way. Then from Ya'an to Tianquan, Kangding and Xinduqiao, this part of the road is cement or tar-covered, it is in good conditon. From Xinduqiao to Yajiang, Litang and Daocheng Yading, we will drive on the same road as Route A. Usually, it needs 3 days too driving from Chengdu to Yading nature reserve.

From Chengdu to Daocheng

There are two routes:

1: Chengdu-Ya'an-Luding – Kangding – Xinduqiao – Daocheng 

2. Chengdu – Doujiangyan – Wolong – Mt. Siguniang – Danba – Tagong – Xindouqiao – Daocheng

The second route was badly destroyed by the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake. Now the most used route is the first one.

There are two departures from Chengdu Xinnan Men Bus Station to Daocheng. The journey takes two days and need to stay overnight at Kandging.

Shangri-la to Daocheng

There are daily buses from Shangri-la Town to Daocheng. Travel from Shangri-la to Daocheng takes only one day. Part of the road is dirt road.

Daocheng Bus Station

There are buses from Daocheng to Kangding, Chengdu, Shangri-la and Yading.

Daocheng to Yading

The road from Daocheng to Yading is flat, paved with cement. Travel from Daocheng to Yading takes about 3 hours.
