Geographical Location
Yanjin county(盐津县) is located in the northeast part of Yunnan province, the junction area of Yunnan province and Sichuan province, it lies in the middle of Zhaotong city and Yibin city, borders Junlian county and Yibin county in the northeast, Yiliang county in the south, Suijiang county and Yongshan county in the west, Shuifu county in the north. It stretches 62.5 kilometers from north to south and 46 kilometers from east to west. The total land area of Yanjin county is 2091 square kilometers with its population of 372.6 thousand.
Introduction
In the old time, Yanjin was the region where the Bo ethnic group inhabited. It was not until 1917, Yanjin was known by people as a county, and the name “Yanjin” was for its function as a ferry to transport salt, which was produced here. Yanjin county is known for its historical sites list as follow: Wuchi road(五尺道) which was built in Qin dynasty, “Yuanzi’s Inscription on the Cliff” in Tang dynasty and “Hanging-coffin Burials of the Bo People”. Yanjin county also possesses rich natural resources like coal, medicinal matereials, orchid and hydro-energy.

There are 4 towns and 6 townships are under the administration of Yanjin county, they are listed as follow: Yanjing town(盐井镇), Puer town(普洱镇), Dousha town(豆沙镇), Zhonghe town(中和镇), Xinglong township(兴隆乡), Luoyan township(落雁乡), Tantou township(滩头乡), Niuzhai township(牛寨乡), Miaoba township(庙坝乡) and Shizi township(柿子乡).
