From the peaceful cobblestone back alleys in Dali Old Town to the old Bai town of Shaxi, one of the best-preserved examples of a Tea and Horse Trail caravanserai, we trace vestiges of a vibrating epoch. In Shangri-La, at altitudes of 3,000m, against a background of mountain peaks covered in eternal snow and ice, you may even cross paths with Tibetan nomads herding their yaks just like they did hundreds years ago.
