A list of highest bridges in the world, ranked by the height of the deck over the ground or water below. Building a bridge very high in the air, such as across a deep valley, adds to the complexity of its design and construction.
Most bridges which span a deep valley are not very tall. The bridge structure is built atop the sides of the valley, resulting in towers that do not extend very far below the deck. Those bridges are ranked as being the tallest in the world and not the highest. Some of the highest bridges listed here may also be among the tallest, adding to their complexity. The Millau Viaduct is an example of a bridge that is both high and tall.[NextPage]
A ranking of the current highest bridges in the world, currently open for use. It does not include bridges under construction, or demolished bridges.
