Jianchuan County (剑川县) is a county in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture located in southern Yunnan Province, China. Jianchuan is famous for the Tea Horse Road from Dali to Lijiang. The famous attractions are Shaxi Old Town, Shibaoshan Mountain and the ancient grottoes, Jianchuan old Town, Qianshishan Mountain.Shaxi is a historic market town in Jianchuan County. It is located roughly halfway between Dali and Lijiang.Sideng market square of Shaxi was added to the World Monuments Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites in 2001. Wood carving in Jianchuan County, Dali, is a 1,000-year-old traditional trade; as early as Nazhao and Dali Kingdoms periods in the Tang and Song dynasties, craftsmen there created the reputed grottos in Shibao Mountain. One old saying goes that in the northwest of Yunnan, Lijiang Baba cake and Heqing liquor are quite famous, but Janchuan prides on its carpenters.
