In Jinniu village, Yangbi county, there is a stone gate pass consisting of two cliffs with one protruding and the other concave, thus the name “stone gate pass”. Besides the stone gate pass, this attraction also includes Yan Bridge, Dangbi River, and Quan Bridge River, with a total area of 115 k©O. This scenary is of great value both for tour or scientific investigation. Its mainly famous for its snow-capped mountain and canyons, ice erosion geographic features, alpine plants and flowers, as well as the mysterious and primitive Yi customs. It was announced to be one of the Second- Group Provincial Places of Interest.
The tourist route begins with the left side of valley in Jinniu village, you will see a deep pond before the stone gate pass, then cliffs of thousands of meters high, jagged rocks of grotesque shapes, and a waterfall hanging on cliff side. After entering the gate pass, a broader and brighter scene will come into your view. You will see three layers of fall rushing down towards the gate pass and pouring into the pond with a spray of water and thundering sound. There are various exotic flowers and rare plants in the valley, especially famous for orchid and azalea. Along the way, you’ll find as if brooks are changing with the weather and color of mountain, they seem to be as green as jade from a distant view, but as clear as mirrors when coming near. This phenomenon is said to be “the most marvellous of west Yunnan”.
On cliffs on the two sides of Cangshan mountain, there build constructions like Yuhuang Pavilion, whose full name is “the Fuguo Temple of Yuhuang Pavilion, Qingliang mountain, Yangbi Yi Ethnic Group’s Autonomous County ”. The temple is almost embeded in the mountain. The cliffy stone stairs could also lead you to a magnificient Buddhist pagoda on upper place. What’s more, you can enjoy the sight of precious rock drawings of Cangshan on the left foot of mountain.
