Luo Binghui (1897-1946), former name Luo Defu, was born in a peasant family in Adushe Village of Jiaokui Town, Yiliang County (彝良). He once participated in the North Expedition War (1916-1928) against the Beiyang Government based in Beijing during the Republic of China (1911-1949), and took the posts such as the commander of the Second Company of the Sixth Corps of the Red Army, and deputy commander of the New Fourth Army and Shandong Military Region before 1949. His former residence, as a memorial, is 5 km from Yiliang county seat. In 1987, the State Council of the R.P.C. appropriated special fund to construct three wood-and-earth structure rooms for Mr. Luo's memorial. Facing south, these 13-meter-long and 7-meter-wide rooms cover a total area of some 120 square meters. In addition, a wider area of up to 2,000 square meters has been further incorporated for the memorial including a stone tablet as the landmark. So far, this site has been listed as a key historical and cultural relic of Yunnan Province. Note: ①: The North Expedition War: 1926-1928, launched by Guangzhou National Government and joined by warlords under it, the war was against the Beiyang Government based in Beijing and those warlords affiliated to it. The war symbolised the nominal unification of the Republic of China (1912-1949).
