Air 

There are regular flights everyday from such cities as Guiyang, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Daxing Airport, which is located in Daxing Township, Songtao County, Tongren Prefecture, about 30 minutes drive to Tongren City. When a flight arrives, the airport shuttle bus, charging 10 yuan (RMB) per person, will send the passengers to Tongren City.

Train 

There are several routes to Tongren City. The tourists from Guiyang City can take a tourist train first to Yuping County and then get to Tongren City by bus. Those from such cities as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou can first arrive at Huaihua City of Hunan Province by train and then get to Tongren City by bus. Those from Chongqing City can first reach Yanhe County by ship and then get to Tongren City by bus.

Bus 

Between Guiyang City and Tongren City there are regular buses as well as bus sleepers. But going by bus sleeper is not recommended, for most of them are untidy.

There is almost no direct bus between Fenghuang Township of Hunan Province and Tongren City. If you want, you can take the passing Huaihua-Tongren bus at Fenghuang Township, which normally takes 2-3 hours and charges 25 yuan (RMB) per person.

Local Transport 

Public bus

At present in Tongren City, the cross-town buses normally charge 0.7 yuan (RMB) per person in the daytime and 1 yuan from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. The buses to the suburbs charge 0.3-0.5 yuan more.

Taxi

It is very convenient to go by taxi in Tongren City and the taxi fare is unexpectedly low enough. The basic charge within 3 kilometers is 3 yuan (RMB) for carrying a person, 4 yuan (RMB) for two persons, and 5 yuan (RMB) for three or four persons. If the taxi is running more than 3 kilometers, one yuan more is charged for every one kilometer. The taxi fare at night is a bit higher than in the daytime.

If you want to go to Yuping County or Jiangkou County, you can also take a taxi at Tongren Bus Station. A taxi normally charges 15-20 yuan (RMB) per person, but the driver wont go until he gets four passengers.
