Huanghuacheng Great Wall

Gubei Watertown

Gubei Watertown in Miyun county of Beijing is a great weekend getaway for Beijingers to enjoy the green mountains, rivers by boat, and starred luxury accommodation. It you are not in a hurry, climbing the Simatai Great Wall nearby is also a delight.

The attractive lantern shops are children's favorite places; nearly every child carries a lantern when they walk in the town. The water town becomes more attractive at night when all the red lanterns are lit among the quaint traditional architecture.

Tongzhou Grand Canal Park

Located in Southeast Beijing's Tongzhou District, the canal park covers a total area of 368 square meters. The canal runs roughly 1,770 km, and is the oldest and longest man made canal in China. Starting from Beijing, the Grand Canal passes through Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the city of Hangzhou.

The forest park is an ideal getaway for Beijing families to spend a day, strolling among the greens, breathing some fresh air, and checking out the great variety of plants and birds

Baiyangdian

As a national 5A scenic spot, Baiyangdian Lake is a popular tourist attraction with peaceful water scenes and vast lotus gardens. Covering a total area of 366 square kilometers, it is the largest natural freshwater lake in the north China plain, consisting of 147 shallow lakes and water-filled depressions.

The lake is home to multiple varieties of fish, wild geese, ducks and birds as well as a vast number of lotus and other plants. Beiyangdian is about two hours drive from downtown Beijing.

Miaofeng Mountain

Covering an area of 20 square kilometers, Miaofeng Mountain is the highest peak that is closest for Beijing visitors. Known for its ancient temples, weird pine trees and strange rocks, the scenic area is 50 kilometers from downtown Beijing. With forest coverage above 90 percent, you can enjoy the great view and fresh air, and the largest rose plantation in North China, which is about 6.6 square kilometers.(From China Daily)
