Hangzhou

East China's Hangzhou City began to offer 72-hour visa-free entry for international transit passengers on Monday, Oct 20, 2014.

The policy covers travelers from 51 countries, including the United States, Russia, Britain, France and Japan. They can enjoy a 72-hour stay in Zhejiang Province after entering the country via Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, providing they have third country visas and onward tickets to leave for a third country or region within 72 hours.

Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, is one of the favorite destinations for domestic tourists. But its inbound tourism is not strong, according to Xinhua.

Guilin

Guilin began to offer 72-hour visa-free stays to international transit passengers on July 28, 2014. The plan covers travelers from 51 countries. Guilin is famous for its picturesque river and karst mountains.

Kunming

Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, started its 72-hour visa-free policy on July 22, 2014.

Transit passengers holding valid visas and onward tickets to a third country can stay visa-free in the administrative area of Kunming for three days. Travelers from 51 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, are eligible under the policy.

Xi'an

Xi'an in Northwest China's Shaanxi province began to offer 72-hour visa-free entry for international transit passengers on June 1, 2014.

Xi'an, well-known as the hometown of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) Terracotta Warriors, is a popular choice among inbound and outbound visitors.

Xi'an was the first city in Northwest China, and the eighth in the country, approved to implement such a policy.

Shenyang

Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, launched 72-hour visa-free stays for foreigners on Jan 1, 2014.

Dalian

Dalian, port city of Northeast China's Liaoning province, launched 72-hour visa-free stays for foreigners on Jan 1, 2014.

Chongqing

Southwest China's Chongqing municipality started to offer 72-hour visa-free stays for foreigners from 51 countries on Dec 30, 2013.

Chengdu

Chengdu became the fourth city in China to embrace the 72-hour visa-free policy on Sept 1, 2013, after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Guangzhou

South China's mega-city Guangzhou started offering international transit passengers 72-hour stays on Aug 1, 2013.

Guangzhou is the third Chinese city to introduce the visa-free policy, following capital Beijing and commercial hub Shanghai.

Shanghai

Shanghai launched the 72-hour visa-free policy jointly with Beijing on Jan 1, 2013. Transit passengers can enter Shanghai through the city's two airports -- Hongqiao and Pudong.(From China Daily)
