巍山红雪梨主要种植于和平镇大德村委会。当地俗称“冬雪梨”。
该品种具有适应性广，树势强健，抗逆性强等特性。成熟期在十月下旬至十一月上旬，耐贮藏，果实规整，果个大（300—400克），色泽艳丽，适口性好（甜脆、含水多），盛果期单株产量100—150千克，亩产可达3000千克以上。
曾以鲜、美、香、甜等特点获云南晚熟梨第一名的冬雪梨，盛产于马鞍山、五印、青华以及大仓等彝族山区。
