Geographical Position

Located in the southeastern quadrant of Wenshan, this rare place is home to some amazing karst topography coupled with rivers, waterfalls, mountains, caverns, and forests. The people of this region are lively and friendly and have some of the most unique festivals of any place this part of the world. It’s not the normal stopping place for the average traveler, which makes it all the more special as a unique place to spend a vacation, and well worth the trip.Guangnan Babao scenic spots in the 323 National Road and Guangfu dart Wen Wei Po, was in Yunnan Province to Guangxi's Beihai to the sea transport hub. Babao is a Shanmingshuixiu, stunning scenic areas, but also a fertile land, water sufficient Yumizhixiang. To Qifeng, Xiushui, Feibao, different holes, and other unique landscape and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous style famous in the province and beyond.

Introduction

One of the most unique locations in the Babao Scenic Spot in Guangnan is the wind tunnel, and the area of the Old Bridge where the five ancient texts and assorted artifacts were found. There are two principle waterfalls, known as the Prince Phillip Falls (sān là 三腊) and the Ge Fung Falls (gē fēng 戈峰) that visitors must see while touring through the Babao Scenic Spot. The majority of these karst peaks range from 160 feet high to 325 feet high and are very sharp at their pinnacle; although there are a few under 160 feet.  The lazy Babao River winds its way slowly from the Hemei Lake and flows north passing charming villages and farms with plenty of natives along the way.  There are 25 rivers that flow throughout this region that all provide uniquely fascinating scenery.

Scenic Attractions

To put it shortly, major scenic attractions in Babao include: Babao River（八宝河） Sanla(三腊) and Gefeng Waterfalls(戈瀑布), Tianfangleitan Shoal（田房磊滩） Pearl Shoal,（石丫口大滩)） Shiyakou Shoal（珍珠滩） Tangna Cave（汤那）, Yafang Cave（牙方溶洞）, various Karst landscapes, old bridges and remains of ancient civilization etc. The old bridges, most of which were stone arch-bridges constructed in the Ming and Qing dynasties, are the highlights in Guangnan. They have been laid out over Babao River thus bringing attractive sights. As the best preserved one, Babao Shuangqiao（八宝双桥） (double bridge) was listed as a protected relic unit in 1988 by the provincial government of Yunnan [the Double Bridge is composed of North Bridge (Li’an Bridge) and South Bridge (Babao Bridge), both constructed in 1788]. Many a site of ancient civilization has proved that Babao has enjoyed a long history and is one of the cradles of human being. The Paleolithic remains in Baiyu Village, Neolithic remains in Anling and Tianfang Villages and the Neolithic cliff paintings in Tianfang Village have been paid on great attention by archeologists.

This magnificent Babao Scenic Spot in Guangnan is an incredibly scenic location actually located in a basin in the Wenshan Yunnan Province and the Miao Autonomous Prefecture.  It’s an amazing scenic are that covers about 42 square miles of incredible scenery.  The ancient Yi village is home to the Yi whose favorite pastime consists of dancing and singing – so be prepared for a lot of fun and music from these happy, fun people.  They love their festivals and they enjoy playing a variety of native instruments.

This area dates back to the Ming dynasty beginning in the mid 1300s.  The main crop in this area is rice and during the fall, the entire area appears golden and green because of the rice fields, which are divided by the Babao River.  The assorted peaks of lush green and black, combined with the winding River and the golden rice fields, make this spectacular area look like something out of an imaginary fantasy land.

Guangnan Babao scenic area in the territory of Southeast Yunnan Guangnan County, 160 km away from Wenshan.
