Introduction

From A.D.420 to A.D.589, ancient China comes into a disunity country which lasted for 169 years.

China was divided to the northern part and the southern part in Dong Jin dynasty. The northern was apposed by the southern for a long time. There were four dynasties in the south, Song, Qi, Liang, Chen. They replaced each other from the begin to the end. The dynasties in the south sharing one capital in Jiang Kang( Nan Jing in today) besides Jiang Ling, which is the capital city of Liang Yuan Di.

During the period, Liu Song was the biggest, strongest and the longest dynasty which has 8 emperors for 7 years. It is the dynasty that emperors changed the most frequently.

The flourish of Buddhism 

Since its incoming, Buddhism flourished in the period of Wei, Jin and Nan Bei Dynasties. There are several reasons for the phenomenon.

First, The situation of the time leads to the hard life of people which make them believe the Buddhism can give them happiness after they died. In the three hundred of years of ruling, the regime changed often.

 Corruption was prevailed in government from high to low. Besides these, the interlude of the foreign groups worse the life of people. The common people can not find hope in the real life, which make them put their hope in the religion. To comfort people’s worsening life, Buddhism abstinence people’s appetency.

Buddhism was developed in the situation. The Buddhism religion can be flourished for its doxy was needed at the time. In the early time, Buddhism’s doxy was mainly said that spirit can not be disappeared after one died. Second, one will be punished by the nature when he does wrong. Third, the life of people can be recycled. This doxy meets the need of the wrenched and the ruined for the hope of good life.

Zhu Chongzi and ∏

Zhu Chongzi(429-500) was a famous mathematician, astronomer and a mechanism maker.

Zhu Chongzi was born in Herbei. In order to avoid the war, Zhu Chongzi’s grandfather moved the family from Hebei to Southern China. His grand father was once the civil engineer. His father was government officials in the royal palace, who was very knowledgeable and respected by most of the people.

Zhu Chongzi was born in Nanking in 429 A.D. Zhu’s family had good knowledge in astronomy and calendar study. He was posed to math and astronomy knowledge when he was very young.

Zhu Chongzi enjoyed good reputation and glory around his hometown when he became adult. He was appointed to do the research job by Xiao Wu Di (Song’s emperor).

From 494 to 498, he has been government chief official in Changshui and enjoyed the forth level of bonus in government. In the situation of wars and rebellions, he wrote a article called An Bian Lun , which in English means about controlling and stabling of Frontier of the country. He advised the government to assart the field and develops the agriculture and stables the people and strengthens country safety. Zhu Chongzi died in 500 A.D. in his 72.

 Zhu Chongzi’s son was also a great mathematician in ancient China.
