Geographical Location

Jingdong Yi Autonomous County (景东彝族自治县) is an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Pu'er Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Located in the west of Jinping Town of Jingdong County and covering 5,292 square meters, the Confucian Temple stands in front of the Yuping Mountain.

Introduction

Jingdong Yi Autonomous County (景东彝族自治县; pinyin: Jǐngdōng yízú Zìzhìxiàn) is an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Pu'er Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. The general layout is on a symmetric basis. Woods in the Confucian temple are serene and majestic, just like those in the hometown of Mr. Confucius. The architectures in the temple include Panchi Pool (Panchi, a pool in front of a school in ancient China, thus Panchi refers to school of Confucianism in ancient times), Bell Tower, Lingxing Gate, Dachen Gate and Dachen Hall, all artistic, exquisite and classic.

Administrative Division

Jingdong Yi Autonomous County consists of 4 towns and 9 townships. Jinping Town(锦屏镇), Wenjing Town(文井镇), Manwan Town(漫湾镇), Dachaoshandong Town (大朝山东镇), Huashan Township(花山乡), Dajie Township(大街乡), Taizhong Township(太忠乡), Longjie Township(龙街乡), Wenlong Township(文龙乡), Anding Township(安定乡), Linjie Township(林街), Mandeng Township(曼等乡), Jingfu Township(景福乡).

Ethnic Groups

According to the Jingdong County Almanac (1994:519), ethnic Yao numbered 3,889 individuals in 1990, and lived mainly in Chaqing 岔箐and Dasongshu 大松树 of Taizhong 太忠乡. Yao language speakers are found in Puya Village 普牙村, Chaqing Township 岔箐乡 (Jingdong County Ethnic Gazetteer 2012:144). The Hani of Jingdong (autonym: Kaduo 卡多) numbered 10,861 individuals as of 1990 and live primarily in Wenjing 文井, Zhehou 者后, and Huashan 花山 townships. The Jingdong County Ethnic Gazetteer 景东县民族志 (2012:209) reports that were are about 200 ethnic Bulang in Manbeng Village 曼崩村, Dachaoshandong Town 大朝山东镇.
