Mainly inhabited by Bulang ethnic minority of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Bulangshan Township is home to over 10,000 Bulang ethnic members and 3,000 Hani ethnic members, among whom the Bulangs account for about 30% of the total Bulang ethnic population of Xishuangbanna Prefecture. Bulangshan area covers at least 1,000 sq km and borders Myanmar in the south; its altitude ranges from 530 to 2,000 metres, and exhibits stereoscopic climate and a high diversity of natural landscapes. As one of the major Pu'er tea-producers of Menghai County, Bulangshan is mainly composed of villages such as Laobanzhang, Xinbanzhang and Laoman'e (with a history of over 1,400 years).The ancient cultivated tea trees, which make up at least 90%, are most famous here; and due to the well-conserved ecological environment, teas produced here are of high quality.
