Composed of some 70 families, Zhugeying Village is located in the southwest of Fangshan Mountain in Yongren County of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture. In 225 A.D, in order to put down the rebellion in Southwest China, Mr. Zhuge Liang (181-234), the premier of Shu State (221-263) in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280), led southwards an expeditionary army and managed to ferry over the Jinsha River (the Yangtze River) at Laza of Sichuan Province.
Being aware that most of the soldiers were extremely exhausted from the march and got sun strokes in the sizzling summer, Zhu finalized the recuperation at Fangshan Mt.-a vital point contested by warfare commanders. When the expedition was resumed, some of the soldiers were asked to garrison there and the story of Zhugeying Village began. Major attractions of Zhugeying include the Stone House (Shi Tou Fang), the Small Great Wall (Xiao Chang Cheng), the Military Beacon Tower (Feng Huo Tai), the Three Stupas, the Remains of the Ancient Tea-Horse Trail, Yi Ethnic Costume Contest Square and some orchards nearby etc.
