Geographical Location

Yongren County (永仁县; pinyin: Yǒngrén Xiàn) is located in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province, China.The whole county covers an area of 2189 square kilometers and about 161 kilometers away from Chuxiong City and 211 kilometers away from Kunming.

Yongren County (永仁县) is located in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province, China.Yongren County is situated in the north of Yunnan province, which is the communications center between Yunnan province and Sichuan province connecting with Panzhihua City in Sichuan.It neighbors Jinsha River in the east,Yuanmou County in the south,Dayao County in the southwest,and Huaping County across the river.Maximum horizontal distance is 53.2 km,and 73.6 km maximum vertical distance.With a total area of 2189 square kilometers, of which the mountainous regions account for 96%.Yongren County belongs to inland plateau, lying in the northwest, southeast of low elevation at an average elevation of 1530m and 1700m.The highest point is 2884.6m above sea-level, which located in main peak of Big Snow Mountain.

11 towns and 3 townships in Yunlong. Towns：Yongding(永定镇)、Yijiu(宜就镇)、Zhonghe(中和镇).Townships:Lianchi(莲池乡)、Weide(维的乡)、Menghu(猛虎乡)、Yongxing(永兴傣族乡).

Ethnic Groups

The major ethnic groups are Han,Yi,Hui,Bai,Miao, Dai,Hui.

Yi subgroups in Yongren County include the Lipo 里颇, Luoluopo 罗罗颇, and Nuosu 诺苏 (Yongren County Almanac 1995:95).
