Niru (or “Nizu” in Tibetan) is located in the heart of the "Three Parallel Rivers" in Shangri-la County which are on the United Nation's World Heritage List. It is a forestry place with pristine landscapes, green mountains and a high diversity of plants truly a paradise for sight seeing, trekking and adventures. Niru Village, a tranquil Tibetan village, is where you can find traditional Tibetan houses scattered in the valley on both sides of Niru River like pearls. Both the natural and cultural environment in Niru are well preserved, earning the title “The World’s First Village”.
There is one attraction especially worth visiting for trekkers: a splendid colored waterfall cluster is located in the depths of a rarely-known mountain range near Niru Village. Rushing down from a 20-meter-high fan-shaped calcium carbonate mesa, the waterfall cluster enriches its surrounding luxuriant virgin forest and crystal-clear river. Illuminated by sunshine, these waterfalls are as beautiful as rainbows.

Niru Population - Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir
Niru is a large village located in Gurez of Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir with total 194 families residing. The Niru village has population of 2297 of which 1751 are males while 546 are females as per Population Census 2011.
