Ximeng County of Pu’er Municipality has scheduled a Wa Cultural Carnival for the coming National Day Holiday.
Ximeng is known as a Wa minority autonomous county whose minority groups account for 94 percent of the total population with 72 percent being Wa. The carnival will be held from Oct 2nd to 6th; during these five days, visitors could experience and enjoy the Wa ethnic culture including Longmoye Sacrificial Ceremony, Open-air Bonfire Dance, and other programmes such as Hunting and Wa Cooking, etc. As one of Yunnan’s 25 minorities groups with a population of over 5,000 each, Wa group has enjoyed a long history and has a profound and unique ethnic culture. Ximeng will be a great experience.
