Geographical Location

Dayao County (simplified Chinese: 大姚县; traditional Chinese: 大姚縣; pinyin: Dàyáo Xiàn) is a county of north-central Yunnan province, People's Republic of China, under the administration of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture.The whole county covers an area of 4146 square kilometers and about 110 kilometers away from Chuxiong City and 253 kilometers away from Kunming.

Introduction

Dayao County (大姚县) is a county of north-central Yunnan province, People's Republic of China, under the administration of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture.Dayao County (大姚县) is a fine example. Besides its several Yi sub-groups — who live relatively the same way but dress very differently - the county also features a couple of famous religious monuments. One is the White Pagoda, so named for its color, which sits on top of a small hill next to the city of Dayao. The other religious monument of note is the huge, 2.5 meter bronze statue of Confucius, housed in a temple in Shiyang (石羊), 36 kilometers west of Dayao.

The State Council of China authorized to build Dayao County, which governs 8 towns, 4 townships, near 86 village offices. There are 13 nationalities here, such as Yi, Han, Hui, Miao and Lisu. The total population is 290,300. These nationalities are industrious，simple and closely united.

11 towns and 3 townships in Yunlong. Towns：Jinshan(金碧镇)、Shiyang(石羊镇)、Liuju(六苴镇)、Longjie(龙街镇)、Zhaojiadian(赵家店镇)、Xinjie(新街镇)、Tanhua(昙华乡)、Guihua(桂花镇).Township:Wanbi(湾碧傣族傈僳族乡)、Tiesuo(铁锁乡)、Santai(三台乡)、Sanchahe(三岔河).
