Yao'an County (姚安县; pinyin: Yáo'ān Xiàn) is located in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province, China.The whole county covers an area of 1803 square kilometers and about 80 kilometers away from Chuxiong City and 224 kilometers away from Kunming.
Introduction
Yaoan County (姚安县) is located in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province, China.Yaoan had a long history could date back 2000 year ago. it also an important place in Yunnan history when the power station in Dali or after it move down to Kunming, Yaoan acted as an immigrate check point into the empire. but nowaday you couldn't see much of the old relic in town, only the small showroom inside the Defengsi temple in the town main square, where they had preserved some antiques, posters of Yaoan history etc, the roof of the main temple hall said to be built in the same way like the imperial palace in Beijing, well...perhaps but much smaller scale! and the bronze Buddha statue claimed to be one of the only 3 statue of this kind in South West China.
The State Council of China authorized to build Yaoan County, which governs 5 towns, 4 townships, near 73 village offices. There are 11 nationalities here, such as Yi, Han, Hui, Miao and Lisu. The total population is 197,700. These nationalities are industrious，simple and closely united.
