About Luoping Rapeseed Flowers:
Luoping enjoys a mild and humid climate. It is dominated by karst features with small basins among independent green hills. It is not only an important producing county of the cole in China but also a national base for raising bees and for processing honey products. The rape flowers covering an area of 250,000 mu and on February of March every years, thousands of Yellow Rapeseed Flowers are in full bloom, looking like and expanse of a golden sea. There are many things to see when you travel Luoping. The major sights include the Jiulong Waterfall (Nine Dragons), the Duoyi River and the Lubuge Gorges.
In early spring, the sprawling farmlands in Luoping are covered in golden, yellow rapeseed flowers stretching as far as the eyes can see, all the way to the horizon. The blooming buds fill the air with the refreshing smell of spring that not only attracts human, but also bees. The beauty of the yellow sea of rapeseed flowers swaying in slow swirling waves in the gentle breeze is a sight that is out of this world.

Highlight for Admiring Rapeseed Flowers
▪ Niu Street(牛街)
Location:in the north of Luoping County
Transportation: You can take minibuses from Luoping to Niu Street. This will cost you 4 yuan and take you about 40 minutes. There are no minibuses at night, so you can take pedicabs from Luoping to Niu Street. It will cost you about 20 yuan. You have to talk the price over with the owner before hand to make sure it is 20 yuan per person or 20 yuan per pedicab.
Recommended Visiting Time: 2 to 3 hours
Rapeseed Flowers in Niu Street
The best site for admiring cole flowers at Niu Street is on the slope. Looking down at the cole flowers with all kinds of patterns, you will find some of them are like eyes, some like butterflies. You can use your imagination as possible as you can. The sites for admiring flowers at Niu Street are not like those on the Golden Cock Peak. They don’t have obvious marks. You’d better find a local person to be your guide after getting off the bus because it is very difficult for you yourself to find them. Different from the spectacular scenery of Golden Cock Peak, it is more small and exquisite.
▪ Golden Cock Peak(金鸡峰丛）
Location: in the northeast of Luoping County
Ticket:10 yuan per person
Transportation: it will cost you 2 yuan from Luoping to the Golden Cock Peak by minibuses and the travel will take you about 10 minutes. You can also take pedicabs, and it will cost you 10 yuan and take you about 15 minutes. By the way, you can get off any time you want to take pictures if you go by pedicabs. The price for the tickets of the Golden Cock Peak is 2 yuan, but it is possible that two persons buy only one ticket.

Rapeseed Flowers in Golden Cock Peak
If you stand on the Golden Cock Peak in the morning, the white fog disappears and golden sea will come out. The many islands stand still in the sea of flowers. The golden shuttles of morning sun go past the sea of flowers. The shining yellow will make you relaxed and happy. The best site for taking pictures is the Sight Admiring Platform of the Golden Cock Peak because it is easy to find views from different angles there. Best Time for Photograph:
If you want to shoot beautiful photo, you had better go to Luoping in fine day. The best time to shoot Niu Street is 4:00-6:00 pm. The best time to shoot the sunrise of Golden Cock Peak is around 7:00-7:30 am and to shoot the sunset after 17:30 pm.

•It takes four hours from Kunming to Luoping by train, 17-30 yuan per person. During the Rapeseed Flowers Festival, there is tourist-dedicated train from Kunming to Luoping that departs at 8:10 in the morning from Kunming and return at 14:00 from Luoping.
•It costs 25-30 yuan to take a bus from Kunming to Luoping.
•It costs 200-300 yuan to rent a car from Kunming to Luoping.
Best Time to Visit:
Luoping Rapeseed Flowers are in their fullest bloom for only ten days in a year. If you go too early, you will miss nothing; but if you go too late, you will miss much. So it is better to set out after you get everything clear. If it is warm early, the flowers will bloom early. The prime time is from round about February, 20th to 25th. Until March, the flowers would have faded. But if it gets warm late, the flowers will bloom late. Anyway, the time for the blooming is different from year to year. March is not always the best choice.

From January to April, the temperature here is about 10-16 ºC so that bring thick clothes to keep warm especially in the morning and evening.
