Early in the Tang Dynasty , Jianshui is Silk Road south traffic arteries. State Road 323 lines across the county, Mongolia (self) Po (show) railway through the county and communicating with the Vietnam Railway滇越铁路, county highway more than a thousand kilometers. Geographic location, 220 km from the provincial capital of Kunming, 250 kilometers from the border crossings estuary, 80 km from the airport Mengzi, is the provincial capital of the south bank of the Red River counties leading transit point for supplies and merchandise distribution center in southern Yunnan.

As a small town in middle-east of Yunnan province, Jianshui has not airport but train station and coach station. 
Jianshui -- Kunming 
Jianshui is located south of Kunming. It is 200 kilometers between Kunming to Jianshui. The mainly transportation is train, private vehicle and public coach taking around 4 hours from Kunming to Jianshui by car and 3 hours by train.
Jianshui -- Yuanyang( for visiting the rice fields)
Located in t of south of Jianshui, Yuanyang is famous for the rice fields scenery. It is around 85 kilometers between Jianshui and Yuanyang, taking about 1.5 hours by car. 
Jianshui –Gejiu
Gejiu is in the southeast of Jianshui. It is 72 kilometers from Jianshui to Gejiu and take around 1.5 hours by car.  
Jianshui -- Xishuangbanna 
Xishuangbanna is situated in the south of Jianshui. It takes around 7 hours by car directly from Jianshui to Xishuangbanna. Usually, 10 hours will be needed for visiting some interesting town or landscape along, the over stop would be  Yuanyuan, Jiangcheng, or Simao.
