勐腊县地处云南省最南端，位于北纬21°09′-22°23′，东经101°05′-101°50′之间，由于地处北回归线以南，海拔高度在480-2023米之间。东部和南部与老挝接壤，西边与缅甸隔江相望，西北与景洪市相接，北面与普洱市江城县毗邻。国境线长达740.8公里（中老段677.8公里，中缅段63公里）。县城距省城昆明868公里，距州府景洪172公里。
气候
勐腊县属北热带湿润季风气候，其特点是热量丰富，夏无酷热，冬无严寒，降水充沛，旱雨两季分明。全县年平均温度在21℃，年降雨量1700毫米以上，年积温在7500℃以上。
