Transportation in Yuanyang county

There is no airport or train station at Yuanyang County, you are supposed to get to Kunming (Kunming airport and train stations are highly developed for you to choose from) and then travel overland to Yuanyang.

By Train

Transfering from Kunming and Jianshui can be accessible by Train with 206 km. Then you need to take bus for Yuanyang from Jianshui.

Jianshui New Railway Station is 10 km away from Jianshui Downtown, as a passby stop station between Kunming and North Mengzi. There are three group trains every day: K9652/K9653, L9852/L9853, K9656/K9657, the departure time from Kunming South Railway Station are 08:06, 12:59 and 17:23, taking about 3:30 hours to Jianshui.Kunming-North Mengzi Train

By Bus

Bus is the main transportation to get to Yuanyang from Kunming. Here are three ways to get there:

Note: All the buses departure from Kunming south bus station (except the night shift bus) and arrive Yuanyang Nansha. You need to take another bus for an hour to Xinjiezhen to see Yuanyang Rice Terraces.

Kunming-Yuanyang Nonstop

There are only 3 nonstop buses from Kunming to Yuanyang (320km), driving about 6.5 hours. The departure time is 10:20, 12:30, 13:30.

Or you can take the night shift Kunming-Yuanyang sleeper bus from Kunming Nanyao bus station. The depart time is 20:00 and arrive Yuanyang at 5:30 in the next morning.

Kunming-Jianshui-Yuanyang

From 07:30-20:30, there are 23 coach buses from Kunming to Jianshui (220km), every 30 minutes have one, about 3-3.5 hours to reach Jianshui. Then transfer to Yuanyang by minibus, within 3 hours driving.

Kunming-Gejiu-Yuanyang

First take coach (07:25-21:00) to Gejiu from Kunming (300km) within about 4-5 hours, then transfer to Yuanyang with another 1 hour.
