Geographical Position:

Puzhehei (pǔ zhě hēi 普者黑) National Tourist Resort is located in Qiubei County (qiū běi xiàn 丘北县), Wenshan (wén shān 文山) in Southeast Yunnan, 280 km from Kunming (kūn míng 昆明). It takes on Karst geological features and covers a total area of 165 square kilometers. It was noted for the world- rare and domestic- unique karst landscape and pastoral scenery since 1993.

As one of the hottest tourist destinations in Southeast Yunnan, Puzhehei was approved as National AAAA-class tourist scenic spot in 2009. It has been named as the National Wetland Park in 2012. In the Puzhehei, the beautiful lakes and mountains composed a beautiful scenery for your eyes.There are 68 Karst Lakes and over 300 mountain peaks. It is also named "the Guilin in Yunnan” (yún nán guì lín 云南桂林) which means the most beautiful place in Yunnan. The limpid lakes, countless green hills, flourishing lotus flowers and small villages side by side attract hundreds of thousands of tourist every year.

Introduction

In the dialect of the Sani People (sā ní rén 撒尼人) who is a branch of the Yi (yí zú 彝族) ethnic minority, “Pu Zhe Hei” means a place abounding in fish and shrimps. The scenic area gets known for hills, lakes, underground Karst caves and ethnic villages etc. There are altogether 256 tourist sites, 312 isolate hills (peaks), 83 caves, 54 lakes and 40,000 acres of Karst wetlands. There are about 100 karst caves, most with two floors - a higher dry cave and a lower wet cave with an elevation of 1,450 meters. Puzhehei is deemed “the unique pastoral land with Karst landforms” and “beautiful paradise”. Puzhehei in Qiubei is a newly developed scenic spot in Yunnan. Even many people in Kunming have never set foot in it. If you are really tired with the crowds in Lijiang, Dali and Xi Shuangbanna, why not try Puzhehei? Puzhehei Scenic Area is 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) northwest of Qiubei County Town, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Minorities Autonomous Prefecture. As a typical karst landscape, the scenic area abounds in beautiful waters and green mountains which are very similar to and even prettier than those in Guilin. Therefore, Puzhehei is praised as being ‘a unique pastoral scene in China’.'Puzhehei’ in the Yi language, means ‘a pond teeming with fish and shrimp. With an area of 165 square kilometers (40,772 acres), the scenic area mostly consists of clusters of limestone peaks, karst caves and natural lakes. Puzhehei in Qiubei is a newly developed scenic spot in Yunnan. Even many people in Kunming have never set foot in it. Puzhehei means the lake with many fish and shrimps in the language of the Yi people. The water of the lake is limpid and you can even see the bed of the lake. Rowing the boat on the lake, the tourists can see many fish and shrimps swimming in the water. There are also some flowers and grasses floating on the water. Up till now the local people still keep the habit of holding water with hands to ease the thirst. In the scenic spot there are 312 peaks standing independent from each other, 56 lakes which are clear and without any pollution, 83 all kinds of caves, a great many mus of water lilies which give off faint scents, and original folk customs. All these beautiful natural sights form a pattern of “three sections and two waterfalls”.
