Shenyu Spring is at the foot of Lijiashan where the famous bull-tiger bronze table was unearthed. The village is called Xujiatou Village and it is bestowed with rich hot-spring resources. In the village there is a stone-paved road on both of which houses from late Qing Dynasty are lined. Among the springs scattered in the village there is one called Shenyu Spring. As is said, a well was drilled on the spring with black carps in it. In May, 1922, the well was repaired with the well being 2.5-meter wide and 0.6-meter deep and walls of the well, the floor around it and cover being made of local limestone. A small Well-dragon Temple was built above the well. The spring flows from the well into three pools for drinking, vegetable washing and laundry respectively.
The water of the Shenyu Spring remains between 28 ¡æ to 30 ¡æ round the year. Now there are 300 black carps in the spring. The most astounding fact about these fish is if you throw some sunflower seeds in the spring, all the fish will come to get the seeds, and shortly you will see the seed shells coming up to the surface. These fish are thus called sunflower-seeds-cracking fish that bear divinity. The spring thus becomes famous because of these fish and now has been a popular tourist destination.
