Tea baked in bamboo tubes is one of the traditional drinks of the Jingpo ethnic people. During each July-August, the Jingpos pick tea leaves and get them decaffeinated before stuffing them into prepared bamboo tubes to be further baked on fire pits. When the baking process is done, teas made in this method can be stored for future use.
When brewed, the tea gives off mellow scent and something that tastes like refreshing bamboo.
Besides the Jingpo, other ethnic minorities in Yunnan also make "bamboo teas", such as Hani, Bulang, Dai and Lahu etc.
