Naxi Ethnic Paper-cuts
Naxi ethnic paper cutting bears on the religious culture and folk customs of the Naxi ethnic minority living in Lijiang area. Most artworks are created by Dongba priests, folk artisans and ladies, so they are based on simple feelings and intuitions, appearing austere and natural.
Naxi ethnic paper-cut can fall into categories such as decoration (e.g. for houses), ceremony (e.g. sacrifice offering, birthday, praying, and exorcizing) and moulds (e.g. for making plate for printing).
