Bandhnu is an ancient skill deriving form the interior of China. Its materials used are cotton, flax and indigo extracted form yielding herbs; the traditional bandhnu technique includes designing, painting, tying with thread, dip-dyeing, removing threads, poaching and trimming. Being blue and dotted with white flowers, the cloth looks elegant vividly; patterns on it are usually ordinary flowers, birds, insects and fish.
Bandhnu is normally made into caps, bags, T-shirts and skirts and tablecloth etc. What's more, the production dyed by natural plants has the function of reducing skin inflammation and prevents the side-effect caused by chemical dyes. In Zhoucheng, Dali, there are lots of family workshops for bandhnu, thus making Dali the major producer in Yunnan.
