The positioning of Jinghong-The most beautiful homo-latitudinal rainforest city in the world
Mr. Zhang Yujie, a senior consultant on Int’l Affairs of China Mayors Association based in Beijing, gave his opinion saying: Jinghong will be for sure the most beautiful homo-latitudinal rainforest city in the world. As the counterpart, Manaus City (Brazil), whose biggest appeal is the Amazon Tropical Rainforest, receives a great number of tourists yearly; however, the construction level of Manaus itself only equals to that of a commonplace county. On the contrary, Jinghong, astride the Mekong River, exhibits favourable geological locations and abundant natural and cultural resources that totally ensure the feasibility of its being built into the most attractive international rainforest city.
Setting limits to curb over-development
Chen Xuegang, CPC secretary of Jinghong Municipal Government, exchanged opinions with experts present and said that strict limits will be set in the future to curb large-scale construction of high buildings by Mekong River. At the same time, Jinghong will learn from domestic and overseas experiences，and will most possibly build massive parking facilities in its vicinity; vehicles (except emergency) will be forbidden in the downtown. As for sightseeing, boats and amphibious tour cars will be employed.
