Banqiao, A Town On The South Silk Road Situated in Longyang District of Baoshan Municipality, Banqiao used to be an important town on the South Silk Road. It has many a place of interest such as Qinglong Street, Longwangtang Park, Reclining Buddha Temple, Beiyue Lake (Reservoir), Xizhuang Temple and Guangzun Temple etc. (1): Guangzun Temple is the biggest religious architecture complex in Baoshan. As a place where one can experience three kinds of religions (Buddhism, Daoism and Confucianism), it was listed in 2003 among key protected cultural relics in Yunnan. (2): Xizhuang Temple, referred to as Zhubajie Temple by locals, is the unique temple in China to enshrine Zubajie (Zhubajie-the Pig in Pilgrimage to West Paradise-was once a general in the heaven but was degraded and incarnated into a Pig due to his obscenity to Ms. Chang’e-the Moon Beauty). (3): Zhuli (Bamboo Groves) Hotspring, covering 10 Mu (Chinese acre) and containing wholesome minerals in its water, is the most famous hotspring in Banqiao Town; its water temperature stays between 41 to 47 degrees Celsius. As home to Han and other nationalities such as Hui, Yi, Bai and Man etc., Banqiao Town turns out to be a bustling world where people from near and afar join in traditional festivals and temple fairs.
