Mount Yunfeng and its main peak of 2,450 meters above the sea level stands in Ruidian Township and over 50 kilometers away in the northwest of the county seat. Seen from a distance, the mountain looks like a bamboo shoot towering into the sky. The mountain got its name because there are often clouds covering its top. Mount Yunfeng is a holy mountain for the Taoists and enjoys great popularity in the western part of Yunnan and the north of Burma. Pilgrims from home and abroad often go there to make a pilgrimage. "The three flights of steps" is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Tengchong. More than one thousand steps lead to the mountain top. The steepest place consists of 43 steps, which is almost vertical and is less than one meter wide. Climbing up to the top, tourists have to get hold of chains and to walk very close to the precipice.
The main building perches on two-hectare wide the mountain top, with its eaves sticking into the sky. Its well-knit structure, suitable layout and tough and dangerous construction all make tourists acclaim it as the best. Walking up the mountain, tourists may enjoy beautiful views along the way , like jagged rocks of grotesque shapes, red azalea, old vines hanging down from the trees and apes crying and birds cawing, which may remain them the scene when Xuxiaoke climbing here.
Walking slowly to the half-way of the mountain, the steps suddenly become steep. Tourists must climb 2685 steps to the mountain gate. Arriving there, they may be exhausted, however, out of the mountain gate, there is a vertical precipice. On which chiseled 43 steps, tourists have to get hold of chains and to walk very close to the precipice. Much more magic is that on one side of the precipice there is a sweet and cool spring.
After drinking it, tourists may feel refreshing and it seems to be easier to climb the mountain. On the top, tourists may have a panoramic view of the landscapes. In the morning, they may observe the grand sunrise and vast cloud sea; at night, they may appreciate the moon and rising frogs, which may make them feel cut themselves off from the rest of the world and free from worldly cares.
