It is otherwise called "purple sticky rice". Pu'er and Xishuangbanna areas in the south of Yunnan are the major producers of this kind of rice. When cooked, it is more brightly colourful.
When festivals and celebrations are spent, the purple rice is normally cooked with different condiments into a delicacy called "Babao Rice".
