Nanzhao culture festival, Yi ethnic ancestor-worship ceremony and snack festival are what Weishan County of Dali is going to treat visitors with during 18-20 March.
Each lunar 8 February (19 March) is when the grand Yi ethnic ancestor-worship ceremony is held at Weibao Mt. Thousands of Yi ethnic members will conventionally attend the event, offering sacrifices and staging traditional performances.
The snack festival is where assorted popular local snacks are available or prepared on the spot, including pastries, pickles, cakes, bean jelly, confected fruits, Er’si rice noodle, baked Er’kuai rice cake, milk fans, and so on.
Travel tips
Weishan is 390 km from Kunming or 50 km from Xiaguan (new town of Dali). Long-term bus ride is available from Kunming West Bus Station, and main travel services organise tours to Weishan.
