The cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen, in Fujian province, came in at 5th and 6th place on a list of air quality in 74 Chinese cities, according to the Environmental Protection Ministry, the Strait Metropolis Daily reported, on Feb 21.
The ministry's comprehensive index showed the Top 10 as: Lhasa, the capital of Tibet; Zhoushan, Zhejiang province; Haikou, capital of Hainan province; Kunming, capital of Yunnan province; Fuzhou and Xiamen, Fujian; and Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Zhongshan, in Guangdong.
The city air quality in the southwestern and northern parts of China is expected to improve with spring and summer in spite of some heavy smog during the December–March period.
