BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng met Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar in Beijing on Tuesday, vowing closer cooperation.
Calling Trinidad and Tobago one of China's most important partners in the Caribbean region, Yu said he believes the Bissessar's visit will facilitate greater progress in bilateral ties.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called on both countries to strengthen political trust, cement win-win cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, energy and agriculture, and enhance coordination in global affairs.
The CPPCC hopes to share experience with departments of Trinidad and Tobago in political participation and consultation, he added.
Bissessar, in her first China trip as prime minister, said her country shares development dreams with China, and hopes to step up substantial cooperation with the Asian country in all areas.
Bissessar is visiting China from Feb. 24 to 28 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Her visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of the forging of bilateral diplomatic ties.
