The 2014 World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit kicked off in Beijing on September 4, 2014.
The two-day summit, themed "The World Tourism Cities: Market and Cooperation," will be attended by delegates from 126 member cities and institutions of the WTCF. It aims to build a tourism industrial chain with travel agencies, hotels, airline companies, airports and other involved parties in the industry through an array of dialogues, promotions and demonstrations.
As the largest outbound tourism market and the third largest tourist reception country, China has played an increasingly important role in the international tourism industry. Thus there will be several forums targeting the Oriental market to encourage innovation in inbound travel services and products; how to make better use of tourism resources with the help of new media; and discussions on the current situation and trends of outbound tourism consumption.
During this period, the 2014 WTCF Exploration (World Tourism Cities Expo and Marketplace) will be held to promote the cooperation between tourism cities and tourism operators in the world. So far, 43 inbound and 53 outbound tourism dealers, mostly from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Russia, Japan and South Korea, have confirmed their registration.
The WTCF, a non-profit and international nongovernmental organization, was created in Beijing in 2012 by touristic cities in different countries and regions, with the aim of promoting development and exchanges among themselves. It currently has 135 member cities and institutions--88 cities and 47 organizations.(From China Tourism News)
