The 3rd China Nie Er Music Week was held in Nie Er Music Square of Yuxi City, hometown of composer of Nie Er(1912-1935), on July 20, 2013.
A series of events, including a chorus competition, forums on music, and concerts played by local and foreign artists, will be held in Yuxi.
Nie Er, a composer of China's national anthem, was born in Kunming, southwest China’s Yunnan province. On July 17th, he was unfortunately drowned in Japan, at the age of 23. In his short life, he had totally composed 41 pieces of musical works, including the Militia March, which was chosen as national anthem after the founding of new China.
He is known as the country's pioneer for the proletarian revolutionary music and the New Music Movement.
