Fishers forbidden to catch fish in Dianchi Lake this year

Large-scale economic fish such as silver carp, bighead carp, common carp, and crusian carp are banned from fishing in Dianchi Lake during period from 2014 to 2015, publicized by Kunming Municipal Bureau for Dianchi Lake Management in recent days.

Fishers who have valid fish certificates in the lake approved by the government can catch whitebait and shrimps from October this year.

Tons of fish that are released in Dianchi Lake can help lesson pollutions of total nitrogen and phosphorus accumulated in the lake. In the next half year of 2014, 1,436 tons of bighead and silver carp fry and 3,622 tons of high-backed crucian carp fry are to be released in the lake.

However, considering growth situation of fish in the lake and exploratory fishing report investigated this year, fisheries experts jointly suggested that most kinds of economic fish in the lake are not suitable for being caught this year.

Fishers are only permitted to raise incomes by fishing whitebait and shrimps in the lake in terms of latest regulation. By doing so, pollution situation of the lake and economic fish’s growth situation in the lake will be greatly improved.
